How to vote for me in the Wilderness Photo Competition

November 23, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

OK, I wouldn't have thought I would have to write a detailed article explaining how to enter a competition, but here goes.

BH Photo, one the best and most respected online camera (and anything remotely related to a camera) store, is hosting an AMAZING competition which offers two chances to win an all-expenses paid African Safari. And if you've just read my previous post about how much I love wildlife photography, then you know how awesome it would be to win this!!!!

Despite BH Photo being an amazing website and resource for photographers, somehow they have managed to produce the most awkward, unintuitive website* for entering the competition, which unfortunately includes voting for photos too! No easy 'login with Facebook' options here, but bear with me and I'll show you how to quickly find my images and vote for them :)

  1. Go to the website - http://www.wildernessphotocompetition.com/bin/Rate
  2. In the search bar under the main banner/menu, type my name - 'Jon Harris'
  3. You'll now see the 6 images I have entered. Choose your favourite - you only get one vote.
  4. Unfortunately, now you have to login to complete the vote. So enter your email address, click Submit.
  5. You'll receive an email with a link - click the link to open the page, then follow the next link which says 'click here…' to go back to the voting page.
  6. Now click the vote button to finalise your vote.
  7. Phew! Nearly there!!! If you like you can then use the social media buttons, or email the link to others so they can vote too.

Wow. so you can see how it is a little bit convoluted… BUT I will be eternally grateful if you take 5 mins of your day to show your appreciation for my work.

Trust me - this is totally worth your time. When I win this comp you'll benefit by seeing the amazing safari images I'll bring back ;D

*Apologies for my somewhat disparaging comments on the website guys but given one of my many other talents is web development and design, trust me when I say it doesn't have to be that complicated to make this site work! Fingers crossed V2.0 works a bit better ;)
